Moyse’s Hall starts 2009 with a fascinating lecture ‘The Thetford Radical and the age of Revolutions’ looking at Thomas Paine (1737 – 1809) the underwear salesman from Thetford who triggered the American Revolution, was condemned to death for sedition and narrowly escaped the guillotine, but whose writings and ideas inspired a generation of reformers and laid the intellectual foundations of the Welfare State!
Brian Way, lecturer and historical teacher will examine this subject on Friday 23 January commencing at 2pm. The lecture costs £5 per adult or £4.60 concessions and includes light refreshment.
