Businesses from across St Edmundsbury have been challenged to reduce the waste they produce by taking part in a borough council initiative to minimise the amount going to landfill.
During Zero Waste Week, which takes place from 10 to 17 March, St Edmundsbury will be encouraging local businesses to think about the waste they produce and make changes which will see more reused and recycled.
Various businesses from across the borough will be getting involved by removing disposable plastic cups, not printing emails, printing double sided letters and much more. A business waste advisor will be available for anyone wishing to learn more. They will be on hand at the Borough Offices in:
- Haverhill from 1pm to 3pm on Thursday 13 March; and
- Bury St Edmunds from 10am to 12pm on Friday 14 March.
And throughout the week, Audi, on Skyliner Way, in Bury St Edmunds is offering free vehicle emission checks, allowing residents to make sure they are travelling efficiently.
Cllr Peter Stevens, cabinet member with responsibility for the environment at St Edmundsbury, said:
“This initiative provides the perfect opportunity for businesses to take a good look at ways of minimising the waste they produce. We have already found out that many businesses already do a lot to reduce their carbon footprint and this gives them the chance to do even more.”
