Photo opportunity: 12noon, Sunday 15 May, Community Fun Day at Castle Playing Fields in Haverhill.
Park Rangers from St Edmundsbury will be asking local residents and community groups for their views on how they would like to get the most out of Castle Playing Fields in Haverhill, at a Community Fun Day on Sunday 15 May.
The aim is to create a Friends of Castle Playing Fields group made up of local volunteers who will work with Park Rangers to improve the area. This could involve using it for community events, such as the Fun Day, as well as carrying out practical conservation work and creating a place where wildlife can thrive, such as the newt pond.
The Community Fun Day is from 11am until 4pm and gives people the chance to enjoy a entertaining day out and find out about activities on offer in their area. There will be information stalls and demonstrations from karate, dance and majorettes clubs as well as entertainment in the form of bouncy castles, surf simulator, jousting gladiators, fire engine crew and face painting. Entry and entertainment is free and everyone is more than welcome to come along.
If you would like to be part of the Friends for Castle Playing Fields volunteer group please contact the Community Parks Officer on 01284 757063 or let them know at the Fun Day where they will be taking names of people who are interested in getting involved.
