Scrutiny is all about close examination or taking a critical look at things and at St Edmundsbury Borough Council we take our scrutiny role seriously.
Our two scrutiny committees at St Edmundsbury exist as a check on the decision making process, and also review how the Council’s services are performing. To help with their work they often ask members of the public to assist, whether it’s through attending focus groups or filling in questionnaires, or coming to a meeting to advise the committees.
St Edmundsbury has now updated its guidance on its scrutiny function and launched a shorter version of the guide to help the public find out more about the role and how they can get involved.
If you would like to get involved with scrutiny at St Edmundsbury, copies of the new guidance documents and the committees’ work programmes are available on our website, www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk, or by phoning 01284 757613.
