A week of historical discovery at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village begins when the People of Eoferwic get kitted out for battle, Anglo-Saxon style, on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October.
There will be demonstrations using spears, swords, shields and archery against the authentic backdrop of the reconstructed village. The smith will be busy metal working at the forge, while the evocative smell of food cooked on open hearths accompanies demonstrations of household crafts.
Saxon Craft Week runs from Monday 27 October to Sunday 2 November. The Ynglingas costume group will be in residence at the village throughout the half-term week. They will be demonstrating a range of craft techniques the Anglo-Saxons used to make the things they needed to be a self-sufficient community, such as woodworking and pole lathing, spinning wool and weaving textiles, metalworking on the forge, cooking and baking much more!
West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village is open every day from 10am to 5pm with last admission at 3.30pm. Event admission prices are £6 adults, £4 children/concessions, £17.50 family ticket.
