New junctions for Mount Road, Bury St Edmunds

2 July, 2008

Work begins on Monday 7 July at the Tassel Road and Appledown Drive junctions with Mount Road in Bury St Edmunds, aimed at reducing the number of accidents that occur there.

Mount Road will be widened and staggered junctions will be introduced to allow cars to wait in a newly formed reservation in the middle of the road, until it is clear for them to turn into either Tassel Road or Appledown Drive.

The work will last up to three weeks, subject to weather. Because of the high traffic flow, four way traffic lights will be used, so the time taken to complete the work is reduced.
