Families looking for fun-filled activities to enjoy during the half-term holidays can journey to Middle Earth and take on exciting puzzles and quizzes in their quest for victory in the ultimate challenge for fans of Lord of the Rings.
WestStowCountryPark and Anglo-SaxonVillage will host the popular Ring Quest family challenge between 10 and 18 February. All-new clues and prizes, plus additional activities and quizzes, mean the event will be bigger and better than ever before.
The Ring Quest is a Lord of the Rings themed challenge for the whole family. The quest sees families follow the clues hidden throughout Middle Earth (otherwise known as WestStowCountryPark and the Anglo-SaxonVillage), collecting runes along the way to solve the final puzzle and save the realms of the elves, dwarves and men. Those who successfully finish the Ring Quest will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a Lord of the Rings prize.
Cllr Paul Farmer, St Edmundsbury’s Portfolio Holder for Arts and Culture, said:
“The Ring Quest is great fun for kids and adults alike and you don’t need to be a Lord of the Rings expert to take part. There will be a brand new set of Ring Quest clues for this half-term, so it should be a challenge for everyone including people who have done the quest before”.
This year, a great new quiz asking children to seek out Middle Earth objects which have been hidden amongst the new archaeological displays in the West Stow Visitor Centre will take place. Families will also have the chance to try their hand at archery, enjoy fascinating displays of bows and arrows or meet ‘Stowbag’, West Stow’s very own Orc who will be visiting from Mordor!
The Ring Quest event will run every day from Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 February. Up to five people can take part at a cost of £5, while under-fives are free. Last admission for the quest will be at 3pm.
