The athletics team, which is made up of young people from middle and upper schools throughout the borough, has been gearing itself up for the event which takes place this weekend, with the help of coaching sessions set up by St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s leisure services staff. Team St Edmundsbury will face teams from other districts across the country, in what is known as the biggest multi-sport festival for young people in the country.

Councillor Terry Clements, who will be joining the athletes on the field and wishing them well for this annual event, said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people across the borough to take part in a large sporting activity and everyone from the council is rooting them on for success this weekend. The commitment and enthusiasm displayed by all participants so far will stand them in good stead for the day and I’m sure they will not only give it their best shot, but enjoy themselves at the same time.”
