Your views on future growth of the borough

19 September, 2005

We’re seeking people’s views on how we can promote the future growth of the borough as part of our consultation on the draft economic development strategy.

Economic development is a high priority for the council and affects everyone who lives and works in the borough in one way or another, from attracting business investment, encouraging and supporting small local businesses, creating employment opportunities and promoting tourism.

The draft economic strategy outlines where we think the economic future of the borough lies and what we are going to do to bring that future about, by working with a range of organisations and partners.

Cllr Nigel Aitkens, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said:

“A developing and prosperous local economy is the borough’s lifeblood. It encourages inward investment, creates a confident climate for new businesses to flourish, supports the established ones, provides more jobs and improves the already high quality of life enjoyed by people living in St Edmundsbury.”

We are now asking people to take a look at the draft strategy and send us their comments. The feedback we receive will help us to ensure we have a strategy that we can all work towards. The consultation document can be viewed and downloaded from our website at www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk. Comments can be made by emailing economy.environment@stedsbc.gov.uk or send them to Economic Development Strategy, St Edmundsbury Borough Council, St Edmundsbury House, Western Way, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 3YS, no later than 7 November 2005.
