Waste accumulations

Although Waste Management deal with the majority of complaints in respect of waste and rubbish, Environmental Health Officers investigate such complaints where any accumulations of rubbish complained of are considered to be harmful to health or a nuisance such as interfering with the comfort and enjoyment of a neighbour's property.

Types of waste may include:

  • food waste
  • accumulations of dog faeces
  • any waste which could attract rats and mice to an area, and/or may cause smells and attract flies.

Inert waste, such as furniture, builders waste or untidy gardens are unlikely to constitute a statutory nuisance.

Complaints should be referred to Environmental Health and Housing for further investigation on 01284 757053 or
email community@stedsbc.gov.uk
