Under the new regulations of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, all Development Plan document’s and Supplementary Planning document’s need to be subjected to a sustainability appraisal. The purpose of a sustainability appraisal is to promote sustainable development through the better integration of sustainability considerations into the preparation and adoption of the documents.
A scoping report is required as the first stage of this process to provide a baseline for the appraisal of the development plan documents in the LDF.
Sustainability appraisals were completed for each stage of the Core Strategy document and the Preferred Options stage of the Development Management document. These can be viewed on our consultation portal by selecting which document you wish to view and then by clicking on the 'supporting documents' option.
