Street Trading Consent

What is a Street Trading Consent?

Most streets in the central area of Bury St Edmunds are “prohibited streets” (ie  no street trading).  This covers the area bounded by St Andrew’s Street (South), St Andrew’s Street (North), Station Hill, Out Northgate, Northgate Street, Angel Hill, Honey Hill, Sparhawk Street, Maynewater Lane and Westgate Street.

Angel Hill and Station Hill are “consent streets” (ie  street trading only with the consent of the Council).

In Haverhill the following are consent streets:

High Street, Hamlet Road, Camps Road and Queen Street.

How do I apply?

When making your application, please submit a plan of where you propose to trade from, together with a picture of the stall/catering stand.

Please note

If you are intending to apply to trade for more than 28 days per year you will also need to make an application for Planning Permission.  In the first instance, please contact the Planning Department on 01284 757066.

How much does it cost?  more info

The fees are for the total time of your consent, not how much you use it, and are based on the size of space you use.
