Outdoor Sports and Recreation15.10 Open space is of great importance in the rural areas. Village greens and playing fields not only provide places for local people to take part in sports and leisure pursuits but also contribute to the environment of the settlement. The Borough Council recognises the importance of protecting and increasing recreation and amenity space in the rural areas and this is addressed elsewhere in the Plan. New provision of open space will be secured through the proposed developments identified in policies RA1 and RA2. Open space provision land has also been allocated at Haverhill Road, Kedington; land north of the former fireworks factory site, Chedburgh; and land south of Walsham Road, Ixworth. These sites mean existing facilities in these areas can be improved. POLICY
