Town Centre Comparison Goods Floorspace14.16 The Retail Appraisal estimated a need for approximately 4,300 sq. metres net (5,750 sq. metres gross) of additional town centre comparison goods floorspace up to 2016 so the town keeps its current market share. It was noted that any additional requirement for this floorspace in the short term will be limited and that sites should be identified which will meet the medium to long term needs of the town centre. Sites exist in the town centre which could contribute to this requirement in the long term. The Borough Council will work positively with landowners and developers to bring about improvements to the range and quantity of town centre uses which will meet the needs of an increased population of the town and reflect its status in the Cambridge sub-region. |
