Local Air Quality Management (LAQM)

National policies on air pollution are expected to deliver a significant improvement in air quality throughout the country.  However, it is recognised that improvements can be made locally in particular "hot spots".

Local authorities must carry out reviews and assessments of air quality in their area in respect of seven of the eight pollutants targeted in National Air Quality Strategy (ozone is omitted from local reviews as it is a trans-boundary pollutant).
