Notice is given that from August 11th 2005 to September 7th 2005 inclusive between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. (Monday to Thursday) and 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. (Friday) any person interested, on application to the Director of Resources Department, P.O. Box 122, St Edmundsbury House, Western Way, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 3YS (telephone number 01284 763233 ext 7251) may inspect and make copies of the accounts of the St Edmundsbury Borough Council for the year ended March 31st 2005 and all books, deeds, contracts, bill, vouchers and receipts relating to them.

Notice is also given that on Thursday September 8th 2005 between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. at St Edmundsbury House, Western Way, Bury St Edmunds, or until the completion of the audit, the auditor, at the request of a local government elector of St Edmundsbury Borough Council will give the elector or his representative an opportunity to question him about the accounts.  Any such elector or his representative may attend before the auditor and make objections as to any matter in respect of which the auditor could take action under section 17 or 18 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 (namely an unlawful item of account, failure to bring a sum into account, or loss or deficiency caused by wilful misconduct) or could make a report in the public interest under section 8 of the above act.

Questions my be received at St Edmundsbury House, Western Way, Bury St Edmunds,  by arrangement with the auditor, The Audit Commission, Springvale Court, Hadleigh Road, Sproughton, Ipswich, Suffolk IP8 3AS to whom requests for this purpose should be addressed.

No objection may be made unless the auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objection and its grounds.  A copy of this notice must be sent to St Edmundsbury Borough Council at the address below.
