Private Sector Housing

The Environmental Health team are responsible for ensuring compliance with a wide range of legislation relating to Housing Standards in the private sector housing stock.

These standards help to ensure the maintenance of the physical structure of dwellings, and the health, safe and well being of their occupants.  Our services include responding to complaints, routine inspections of Houses in Multiple Occupation and caravan sites, provision of advice, informal action to remedy problems, and in appropriate cases enforcement action.

Grants may be available to owners of properties, and in some cases tenants, to repair or improve their houses.  Disabled Facilities Grants are also available to adapt houses to meet the needs of a disabled occupant.

For more information see below.
