Dangerous structures and demolitions

Dangerous structures

If you are aware of a building or structure that for whatever reason you consider is in a dangerous state you should report the matter to the Building Control Section on 01284 757387 or if outside of normal office hours on 01284 763252.

Demolitions

If you are proposing to demolish a building or part which is over 50 cubic meters capacity then you will need to advise this local authority of your intention by giving notice in writing and providing details of the property, the proposed date of demolition and details of the neighbours of any adjoining properties. You will then be served with a counter notice advising you of precautions you will need to adopt. If you require further advice on this matter please phone the Building Control Section on 01284 757387.

If it comes to this authority’s attention that demolitions are taking place without having received a notice or when a notice has been served and proper precautions do not appear to have been observed enforcement action may be taken to stop the work until the matter has been resolved.
