Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy

Welcome to the three-year Community Strategy for the Western Suffolk Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.

This is the first strategy produced by the Western Suffolk CDRP which covers Mid Suffolk, St Edmundsbury and Forest Heath.  The three district/borough councils, Suffolk County council, Suffolk Constabulary, Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service, the Primary Care Trusts, and the Suffolk Police Authority and many other agencies have produced this strategy and their hard work is to be applauded.

The strategy follows national and local priorities for reducing crime and disorder/drugs and has set itself some ambitious, but achievable goals.  They are:

  • To reduce BCS comparator recorded crime by 17.5% in Forest Heath district, 12.5% in Mid Suffolk district and 12.5% in St Edmundsbury borough by March 2008.
  • To reduce the number of recorded incidents of anti-social behaviour by 5% by 2008 across Suffolk.
  • To reduce the harm that drugs and alcohol cause to communities.
  • To reduce the number of deliberate fires by 10%, by 2010.

As a Partnership we recognise that no single agency can accomplish these targets alone.  Success can only be achieved by working together and therein lies the strength of the Western Suffolk Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.
