All premises which have cooling towers and evaporative condensers in the St Edmundsbury Borough Council area must be registered with Environmental Health and Housing Services to comply with the Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulation 1992. The main reason for this is to identify areas which could give rise to the spread of infectious diseases such as legionella.
How to register
To register with the council either register online or print off and complete the Notification of cooling towers and evaporative condensers registration form EH019 (PDF 12Kb) and return it to us. We usually confirm receipt of the notification using the tear-off slip on the bottom of the form.
The link below takes you to an external website which processes these applications on behalf of St Edmundsbury Borough Council:
Any change to the notified details should be sent to the local authority in writing within one month of the change.
If the devices cease to be used or are no longer notifiable the local authority should be notified in writing as soon as reasonably practicable.
