Lost dogs

If you have a lost a dog you should let St Edmundsbury Borough Council know, the dog may have been collected as a stray. The Environmental health team also keeps a register of all dogs reported lost, so if the dog is found, it may be able to re-unite it with the owner.

By law, your dog should wear a collar with a tag stating the owners name and address. If the dog is found and has a collar and tag it will be re-united with you a lot sooner. Our kennels will also scan all dogs collected for a microchip implant, which have the details of the owners name and address. If your dog does not have a microchip implant and you would like one you should contact your local vet.

Out of office hours, dogs should still be reported to the borough council's out of hours service, who also take details of stray dogs. The Environmental health team will receive notification of both lost and stray dogs the following morning.

Lost or missing dogs can also be reported to the following websites:

To report your dog missing contact the Environmental health team by phone on 01284 757053 during office hours or phone the out of hours service on 01284 763252 (this operates between 17:00 - 09:00 the following day).
