Dog fouling

Dog owners must by law pick up any mess made by their dogs. If owners fail to do so and evidence is available that they have not complied with the law, then they will be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice. Currently, the fine attached to a Fixed Penalty Notice is £50. Owners who do not pay the Fixed Penalty Notice are likely to be prosecuted and can be fined up to £1,000, if found guilty in court.

You should always carry a "poop scoop" with you to pick up any mess made by your dog. St Edmundsbury Borough Council and some local post offices sell packs of these bags currently for £1.00 for a pack of 50.

For further information or enquiries contact the Animal Warden by phone on 01284 757058 or email env.health@stedsbc.gov.uk.
