Station Hill and Tayfen Road Concept Statement

The area north of Tayfen Road and Station Hill has been earmarked for redevelopment in St Edmundsbury’s Local Plan. The borough council has now put together a concept statement for the site, which will eventually be used by developers or landowners to draw up a masterplan which will shape the development.

The concept statement (PDF 945Kb) shows that the development could include new homes, retail warehouses, a small supermarket and other small shops, open space and car parking, as well as space for leisure activities. As part of the plan, the gas holder on Tayfen Road will be demolished and the railway sidings would be moved out of town.

A summary leaflet (PDF 964Kb) is also available.

The public consultation ran until 14 August 2007. All comments received were summarised and this summary together with the council’s response were reported to the council’s Sustainable Development Panel on the 4th September 2007.
