If you wish to place a skip or scaffold on the road or footway you will require a licence in accordance with the Highways Act. This should be obtained by the company providing the skip or scaffold. If you need to apply yourself, please provide the following information: name of skip company, location, start and completion date.
If the licence is required for a skip or scaffold that is to be placed on the road or footway in Bury St Edmunds, then the licence will be issued by Engineering Services Team.

- Please note that in Bury St Edmunds, we do not allow skips to be placed on the verges or footways.
- A licence will only be issued to a company who has the correct and appropriate insurance and there will be a charge of £25 for skips and £70 for scaffolds.
- If the skip or scaffold is on your own property then you will not need a licence but if you are a tenant of a Havebury or other housing trust property, then you may need their permission.
