Scaffold and hoarding licences

 

Scafolding on the footway

To place a scaffold or hoarding on the road or footway you need a licence in accordance with the Highways Act. This should be obtained by the company providing the scaffold or hoarding.

Please note:

  • A licence will only be issued to a company who has the correct and appropriate insurance and there will be a charge of £70 for scaffolds.
  • If a scaffold or hoarding is on your own property then you will not need a licence but if you are a tenant of a Havebury or other housing trust property, then you may need their permission.
  • Permission may be give subject to conditions which may relate to the following:
    • siting of scaffold or hoarding
    • scaffold or hoarding dimensions
    • making scaffold or hoarding visible to traffic
    • lighting and guarding of scaffold or hoarding
    • removal of scaffold or hoarding
