Road markings and signs

 

Road markings and signs on our roads are an essential aid to assist in road safety, providing directions and other information. The type of signs, their wording and design is subject to compliance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002, a statutory requirement.

Road markings are replaced on a rolling three year programme or following resurfacing works. Missing or obliterated road markings within Suffolk can be reported to Suffolk County Council on

Double yellow lines and other formal parking restrictions require a Traffic Regulation Order. his requires consultation with people who may be affected by any restrictions on parking together with an advert declaring our intentions. This process can take up to six months.

Parking restrictions in Bury St Edmunds are reviewed on an annual basis and a programme of amendments and new orders are advertised based on requests made to the council.
