Welcome to the borough council’s web pages about the Planning Policy section. We are responsible for preparing land use policies in St Edmundsbury including the Local Plan, Supplementary Planning Guidance and development briefs as well as contributing to the preparation of other planning strategies and documents.

In order to undertake these tasks the section carries out a considerable amount of monitoring and research work including population statistics (such as the Census), housing starts and completions as well as other statistical work on employment land, open space and retail floor space.
