As a publicly funded organisation we are committed to being as transparent as possible by providing information about the way we work and how your money is spent. We do this in a number of ways:
Councillors allowances
Elected councillors are entitled to an annual allowance which recognises their time commitment. This includes attending council and committee meetings, working with staff and other duties in their wards. For details visit our Councillors allowances page.
Environmental information
All environmental information held by, or on behalf of St Edmundsbury Borough council is within the scope of the Environmental Regulations 2004, although the disclosure of personal data is subject to the Data Protection Act. The legislation covers all documents, including closed files, archived material and information in current use, regardless of its age, or classification. There are exemptions where it may not be possible to disclose information. For more information visit our Environmental information regulations page.
Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 allows anyone to request copies of any information held by the council. There are only a few exceptions which are mainly to protect personal privacy, safeguard security and crime prevention. In some cases we may ask you to pay a fee. For more more information visit our Freedom of Information requests page.
Pay policy
Payments to suppliers
Every month we publish a list of payments to our suppliers with a value of £500 or more (inclusive of VAT).
Senior officers remuneration
Details of the pay of the senior St Edmundsbury Borough Council staff are provided in the council's Audited Statement of Accounts 2009-2010 (PDF 2.7Mb) pages 46-8.
Tenders and contracts
The value of a contract determines the procedures that we must follow. The value determines how many quotes we need to obtain or whether a full tender process must be entered into. For more information visit Quotations and tender.
