War memorials and monuments

St Edmundsbury Borough Council is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the five main memorials, including War memorials, in Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill, these are:

  • Bury Cemetery, Bury St Edmunds;
  • The Boer War Memorial, Cornhill, Bury St Edmunds;
  • War Memorial, Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds;
  • Haverhill War Memorial, Haverhill Cemetery; and
  • Haverhill St Saviours Hospital, Fornham Road.

The structures are kept in a safe condition, with all inscriptions legible. The monuments and their surrounds are kept clean and tidy, including any grounds, with special attention given to them prior to Remembrance Day.

If you have any comments or suggestions for ways in which we could improve the memorials or would like to report any damage you have noticed please fill in our online War Memorials and Monuments form.
