Publication of verification number

This is formal notice that the councils listed below have determined the verification number (the minimum number of local government electors who must sign a petition in order to require a referendum on an elected mayor) for their respective councils as set out below.

The verification number published will be used for verification purposes in relation to any petition presented to the relevant council in the period of 12 months beginning with 1 April 2008.

Where the verification number published by a council is less than the number published in the preceding year, the reduced number will take effect immediately rather than on 1 April.
