Core Strategy: Submission document
This is the final draft of the Core Strategy document which we intend to submit to the Secretary of State for examination by an independent planning inspector. The aim of this final consultation is to invite comments on whether the document is ‘sound’ and legally compliant. The consultation questions we will be asking are very specific ones, designed by the Planning Inspectorate. Guidance notes accompany the Core Strategy response form (PDF 97Kb) to explain this further.
Further guidance on the examination of development plan documents can be found on the Planning Inspectorates website. A statement of representation procedure(PDF26.5Kb) sets out how the council is consulting on the Core Strategy and how representations can be submitted.
Where possible, we would prefer you to submit your response using our online consultation system. This enables faster analysis of responses, reduces the time in data entry and is more environmentally friendly. Alternatively, copies of the response form are available from our offices at West Suffolk House, Western Way in Bury St Edmunds, or Lower Downs Slade in Haverhill, from local libraries in the borough or can be downloaded from our LDF response forms page.
A Sustainability Appraisal and a Habitat Regulations Assessment Screening Report accompany the Core Strategy Final Submission document. This can be viewed, downloaded and commented on through our online consultation system. The response form can also be downloaded from our LDF response forms page.
The Core Strategy Statement of Engagement and Consultation (PDF 266Kb) sets out which bodies were consulted under regulations 25 (Issues and Options) and 26 (Preferred Options) of the 2004 and amended 2008 regulations; and how those bodies were invited to make such representations. It also includes a summary of the main issues raised by the representations; and how these main issues have been dealt with in the Core Strategy Submission document.
If you would like information on previous Core Strategy consultations the results of the Preferred Options stage and Issues and Options stage are available.

Site Allocations: Issues and Options (Additional Sites)
This is similar to the last round of consultation. This Site Allocations Issues and Options – Additional Sites document identifies those new sites submitted to us by developers, agents and landowners in our last (and final) call for sites from November 2008 – January 2009. The aim of this consultation is to ask about the suitability of sites, before the council makes a formal decision on them.
Please note that during this consultation we are not requesting comment on sites that were included in the Site Allocations Issues and Options consultation that took place between November 2008 – January 2009 (sites with the prefix ‘SS’).
All the site submission forms completed by those who put forward sites from November 2008 – January 2009 are available to view at our offices and local libraries in the borough or can be viewed on our Site Specific Allocations Issues and Options - Additional Sites page.
We would like to receive your views on the suitability of sites. Where possible, we would prefer you to submit your response using our online consultation system. This enables faster analysis of responses, reduces the time in data entry and is more environmentally friendly. Alternatively copies of the response form are available from our offices at West Suffolk House, Western Way in Bury St Edmunds or Lower Downs Slade in Haverhill, from local libraries in the borough or can be downloaded from our LDF response forms page.
Details of the sites included in the previous Site Allocations Issues and Options consultation (November 2008-January 2009), are available. No decision on these sites has been made.
