Parliamentary Constituency Boundary Review

At the next general election, which is expected in May 2015, the number of MPs in Parliament will be reduced from 650 to 600. In order to accommodate this change the boundaries of most parliamentary constituencies will need to be changed.

The Boundary Commission for England is responsible for looking at the boundaries of all parliamentary constituencies in England and recommending changes. As part of this process they will make initial recommendations and conduct a full public consultation asking for comments on the changes they propose.

Currently electors within St Edmundsbury are in the West Suffolk, South Suffolk or Bury St Edmunds Constituencies. The proposal put forward is for the ward of Pakenham to be moved from the Bury St Edmunds constituency to the West Suffolk constituency.

This consultation process begins on Tuesday 13 September 2011 and will run until Monday 5 December 2011. This is your opportunity to have your say on the proposed changes.
