Clinical waste is a term used to describe any waste which poses a threat of infection to humans. The term also includes some drugs or other pharmaceutical products. It does not include nappies, medicines and one use plasters.
Clinical waste is mainly produced by hospitals, health clinics, doctors' surgeries and veterinary practices, but also arises from residential homes, nursing homes and private households.
Examples of clinical waste include:

blood or other bodily fluids

dialysis waste

drugs or other pharmaceutical products

excretions

human or animal tissue

swabs or dressings

syringes, needles or other sharp instruments
There is no charge for removal of clinical waste from domestic properties however to arrange a collection please contact your Primary Care Trust (PCT) or your own Doctor who will, in turn, contact us to arrange for the service.
