From 28 June Forest Heath District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council bin collection days for most residents changed. This meant that most householders need to put their bins out on a different day of the week, and also perhaps changed the week that they put out their blue/brown and black bins.
Use our Bin collection round search to check which day your bins will be collected and find out which bins will be collected each week.
Why were the bin collections being changed?
The changes were necessary because of a new contract which has changed where we take your waste. This has given us the opportunity to redesign our collection rounds to make them more efficient, to help us reduce the amount of fuel we use and to reduce our carbon emissions.
The bin collection changes also mean we were able to redesign the rounds to take into account all the new homes built over the years.

Why are we doing it?

| From 7 June |
Yellow bin tags put on black bins |
To alert householders to look out for a letter from the council which contained specific information about bin changes. For various reasons, letters have to be addressed to "The Occupier" and people sometimes throw this type of letter away without looking at it. Our bin tags alerted householders to look out for the letter. |
| From 17 June |
Letters delivered |
These letters told you which day your bin would be collected and which date to put out your blue, brown and black bin. Your bin collection time may have changed so please make sure your bin is put out for collection by 6.00am on the day of collection. |
| From 28 June |
The changes to your bin collections commenced. |
In order that we communicate these changes to as many people as possible wrote to various community groups, landlords and the media to inform them that these changes were coming.
