There is an opportunity for St Edmundsbury businesses to pick up useful advice on weathering the credit crunch at ‘Gearing Up for the Downturn’, the annual business rate payers consultation meeting to be held at the Athenaeum in Bury St Edmunds at 6pm on Wednesday 7 January 2009.
St Edmundsbury's success in promoting prosperity within the borough has been recognised with an extra award of just under £1 million of Government funding to support growth in the area.

The Leader of St Edmundsbury Borough Council has proposed a council tax freeze for next year and has called upon other Suffolk councils to do the same if they possibly can.

Market Thoroughfare will be closed from Monday 12 January 2009 for up to seven weeks. Sparhawk Street will also be closed from Monday 12 January 2009 for up to seven days and Southgate Street will then be closed for up to five days from approximately 21 January 2009.
