A collaboration between Bury St Edmunds Art Gallery and Manor House Museum has resulted in the launch of an exciting exhibition giving people the opportunity to see the works of three major print and linocut artists.
The Manor House Museum and Art Gallery are ideally located only short walk from each other and have brought together a selection of artwork, including some remarkable linocuts from popular East Anglian artists Sybil Andrews and Dale Devereux Barker as well as paintings and screen prints by Norfolk-based artist Derrick Greaves.
Dale Devereux Barker is a well-established print maker not only in this region but across the country and his work has been displayed in many international and local print exhibitions. Visitors will also have the chance to talk to Dale about his work at a special lecture on Sunday 25 January at the Manor House Museum.
Derrick Greaves has been painting for the last 50 years and much of his work is well known for its boldness that makes a dramatic impression.
As part of the month long exhibition, there will be plenty of opportunities for people of all ages to get involved by having a go at linocutting at one of the hands-on workshops. Participants will be able to create their own work whilst learning about Dale’s work and various printing techniques. The results from the workshops will be exhibited in libraries in Brandon and Bury St Edmunds.
To book a place for the lecture by Dale Devereux Barker or for one of the many workshops please contact Moyse’s Hall Museum in Bury St Edmunds on 01284 706183 or email moyses.hall@stedsbc.gov.uk or the Manor House Museum on 01284 757074/6 or email manor.house@stedsbc.gov.uk.
The Manor House Museum is open from 11am until 4.00pm Wednesday to Sunday and the Art Gallery from 10.30am to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday. The exhibition is now open and runs until 21 February.
