Following a call-in by Cllr David Nettleton, St Edmundsbury Borough Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee met on Monday 19 January to consider the decision taken by the Cabinet on 10 December 2003 to negotiate with the Theatre Royal about funding for its restoration project.
Cllr Nettleton’s call-in was supported by Cllr Michael Ames, Cllr Allan Jones, Cllr Derek Redhead and Cllr David Bradbury.
Following a long debate at the meeting the Overview and Scrutiny Committee agreed with the Cabinets original decision and therefore negotiations with the Theatre can now start.
