Advanced search
A more complex search can be created by using a plus sign in front of a word (+), a minus sign in front of a word (-) and or in capitals (OR) between words, these can be combined with a phrase in quotation marks " ". This allows you to find documents or web pages that contain keywords or phrases and then use a minus -keyword to exclude items. Some examples are given below but the the best way is to experiment.
Space, plus sign (+), AND - to find documents or web pages matching all of your keywords.
For example, if you want to search on Abbey Garden, there are three ways you can type it in:
| No | Search | Explanation |
| 1 | Abbey Garden | a space between the words |
| 2 | Abbey + Garden | a plus sign in front of the word (leave a space between + and the keyword, not Abbey +Garden) |
| 3 | Abbey AND Garden | AND in upper case between the words |
OR - to find documents or web pages matching one or more keywords, separate the keywords by OR (OR must be uppercase).
For example Abbey OR Garden OR altar ---- not ---- AbbeyORGardenORaltar.
| No | Search | Explanation |
| 1 | Abbey OR Garden OR altar | OR in upper case between the words (leave a space between OR and the keyword) |
NOT, minus sign (-), AND NOT - to exclude a word from your search use minus sign (-) sign immediately in front of the word.

| No | Search | Explanation |
