Statement of Community Involvement

We want to involve as many local people as possible in the local planning process, especially when it comes to setting policies which will affect the way the borough looks in the future. To do this we need to have a formal Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). This is a document setting out the council's policy for involving the community in the preparation of local development documents and in the consideration of planning applications. It indicates when and how people can get involved in planning matters and what they should expect when they do. The SCI is effective for the whole of the borough.

We adopted the SCI on 26 February 2008 following extensive public consultations and examination by a planning inspector.
