Strategic housing land availability assessment

We have produced a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA). The SHLAA Methodology was updated in 2010 (PDF 813Kb) to amend any factual inaccuracies. The SHLAA provides information on the potential for housing to meet identified needs within the study area. It is part of the evidence base to inform the production of the Local Development Framework (LDF).

The SHLAA is a technical study and outcomes of the study do not give a presumption towards development. Any development site will need to be assessed through the planning process.

A joint SHLAA has been completed for the following four administrative areas within Suffolk:

  • St Edmundsbury Borough;
  • Forest Heath District;
  • Mid Suffolk District; and
  • Babergh District.

Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment 2011/12 (PDF 10.5Mb) which supersedes the 2010/11 SHLAA.
