St Edmundsbury Borough Council's planning department is responsible for planning policy, development control, planning applications, land charges and listed buildings.

Planning consists of a number of formal processes that are used at different stages when making a decision and Building Control regulates the design and construction of buildings, making sure they meet the minimum standards set out in the Building Regulations.
