St Edmundsbury Borough Council's planning department is responsible for planning policy, development control, planning applications, land charges and listed buildings.
Planning consists of a number of formal processes that are used at different stages when making a decision and Building Control regulates the design and construction of buildings, making sure they meet the minimum standards set out in the Building Regulations.
Duty Officer Service
Please note the change to the Planning Helpdesk service
From Monday 30 June 2014 the Planning Service will be operating a Duty Officer system from 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday.
The Duty officer can provide general planning advice to customers by phone or email or you can visit us in person, although if you need to see someone we strongly advise that you call at least 24 hours in advance to check that an officer will be available. This advice is oral and free, regardless of the type of proposal but regrettably planning officers are unable to provide site-specific advice, this will be provided by the case officer dealing with your application.
