A new service for letting agents and private landlords will be launched on Friday 2 November at the West Suffolk Landlords' Conference, from 9.30am to 3pm at the Malthouse Project, 8 Elsey's Yard, Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds.
St Edmundsbury Borough and Forest Heath District Councils recognised that private landlords and letting agents often need specific support in securing and maintaining tenancies with a wide range of prospective tenants. Together they have set up the West Suffolk Lettings Partnership, to provide this.
The service has already signed up five private landlords and three letting agents and housed people from the waiting list, in some cases securing tenancies by lifetime deposit bonds – just one of the products offered.
Darryl Durno, Landlord Liaison Officer, said
"We knew that operating in the commercial housing market needed a different approach and it's proving really successful so far, already creating eight new tenancies for people previously on the housing needs list. We are getting good feedback and look forward to introducing the service to even more landlords at the conference".
The first West Suffolk Landlord's Conference is kindly sponsored by the Eastern Landlords Association. There will be speakers from the West Suffolk Environmental Health and Anglia Revenues Partnership and a free buffet lunch. Please email landlords@stedsbc.gov.uk or call Darryl on 01284 757637 if you are interested in attending.
