27 September 2012
The apex logo

Nine artists and photographers will explore issues relevant to Black History through the mediums of paintings, textiles and photographs. Some of their images are strongly political or historical whilst others address marginalisation and prejudice. This subject matter is balanced with upbeat and positive ideas expressed in images of musicians and carnival themes which celebrate and give a voice to the rich diversity of cultures within our community.

Participating artists: Deanna Tyson, Cate Hadley, Mohammed Djdzmi, Roy Cano, Sandra Scott, Jamie Andrews, John Lyons, Simon Kirk, Waqar Ashraf.

The open viewing, from 6pm-7.30pm on Tuesday 9 October will be followed by a gig by Ethiopian band, The Krar Collective.

The exhibition runs from 8 – 25 October, and is open Monday to Saturday 10am-5pm, entry is free, see www.theapex.co.uk/gallery for more information
